Some great chip image news
I got permission from Silver State Treasures to use their images for non-commercial purposes. I love that site because it has all the Las Vegas ones up to $500s and $1000s. - PhilipR 06:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's great! Add away! If we get a lot, maybe we should start breaking up the Chip images page by state, like we've done the casinos... MarkT 07:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
.... and a question
Mostly for MarkT, but also for anyone else that's interested in adding photographic content to the wiki. Way back when I tried to take pics with my digital camera and they didn't turn out well, e.g. Foxwoods and Brantford chips. I suppose it might just be a garden variety photography question -- I'm not a very good photographer, obviously -- but is there something special you have to do in photographing chips to not have them blurry? Thanks, PhilipR 06:46, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think trying to do it with a digital camera is probably extremely difficult (you'd probably need one of those "close up mode" cameras). You might be able to do it by backing up a bit and photographing them against a solid color other than white so your camera's autofocus can focus correctly. On the other hand, I don't recommend using a digital camera at all, if you can avoid it.
- I'm doing mine by just putting them on my scanner and scanning them, then cropping the scan to be just the chip. As you can see, it's working great. I did have to set it to "magazine mode" in my case, though, otherwise it kept doing its own autocropping and ending up slightly chopped off, like some of my early attempts (e.g. Artichoke Joe's).
